FAQ

Your child will likely enjoy both gymnastics and Ninja classes because they involve movement and they’re fun. Children who thrive on explosive movement like diving, running, and jumping are well suited to a Ninja class, and children who enjoy the discipline of strength conditioning and mastering form are suited to gymnastics. But you don’t have to choose! We offer a two-hour class that combines gymnastics with Ninja to give your child lots of high energy activity combined with gymnastics skills mastery.
Yes! At SEGN we embrace the concept of ‘Try Before You Buy [TBYB]’ because it offers parents early insight into how well a child may fit into and enjoy a class. The TBYB class is free. Parents must sign an injury waiver for a child to try a class.
The answer depends on how well socialized your youngster is in terms of being able to participate without parents on the floor, follow instruction from a Coach, and take turns. We have seen a three-year-old embrace the group dynamics of a class, and we have seen a six-year-old struggle with separation from parents who are on the sidelines watching. The best answer lies with you and your commitment to support a child’s independence.
The membership fee is made up of insurance and a small fee for processing and management. Insurance is a one-time annual levy covering July through June and is a pass-through to the Alberta Gymnastics Federation. The amount of insurance charged varies according to how the participant uses the gym. For example, the insurance charge for dropping into OpenGym is much less than the charge for weekly attendance in a program.
Yes! We apply a 10% discount to multi-child registrations from the same family. The discount is applied to the registration of lesser value. Insurance fees are not discounted.
Yes! We welcome all to Open Gym where children can play on their own under the supervision of parents or attend alone if they are over 12. To register for Open Gym, parents create an account on our website and add children as athletes. Parents must complete an injury waiver for each open gym participant.
We are unable to accommodate make up classes when a class is missed but we offer free attendance for an Open Gym session so that a child has an opportunity to make up the lost class by practicing their moves using our equipment and facility.

Registering online starts with creating an account using the Register link on our home page.

The account holder is a participating adult or parent/guardian. Athletes are attached to an account holder. Athletes/account holders can be the same individual.

Once the account is created, you can register for classes by searching for the preferred class day/time and using the plus sign to add them to a shopping cart. Payment occurs during check out. Accepted payment methods are credit card or e-transfer (cash). SEGN has auto deposit for e-transfers.

At SEGN, we are proud to offer classes adapted for the cognitively and physically challenged. We have specialized classes for children with cerebral palsy and Down Syndrome, and we have incorporated children with autism into our specialized and regular programs. We have a pediatrics physiotherapist on staff who designs the classes and works with parents on assessing suitability.
Yes! You are welcome to stay and enjoy watching your child. We have chairs around the gym, and we welcome parents who like to stand and cheer the considerable effort it takes for a child to climb the warp wall!
When you sign up for a class you are committing to a session (3 or 4 months). We understand circumstances arise that dictate the need for discontinuing the class. When this happens, we will consider the reasons for a request to cancel, and we will request a month’s notice. A refund will be issued for the balance after the notice period and less a $50 cancellation fee.
